“a great meal that will make your stomach happy without making your wallet light”

Dinner on the go is sometimes a blessing, and with plenty of space on the Harbor for a family picnic, grabbing a bite at the Quarter Deck and finding your own waterfront dining experience just might be preferable..and quicker than a long sit down meal. Being a takeout place, the Quarterdeck doesn’t offer seating, but that’s because it doesn’t have to – the little restaurant sits in the heart of the Edgartown village, enjoying proximity to a multitude of harborside benches and the town’s Memorial Wharf, where you can bring your meal and sit and watch as the ferry ply’s its way back and forth across the glistening water taking small groups of passengers and cars across the harbor.

Located just behind the famed Seafood Shanty restaurant and run by the same owners, the menu features burgers, sandwiches and assorted fried foods, such as fried clams, chicken fingers, Popcorn Chicken & Shrimp, onion rings, and sweet potato fries, along with a large selection of other seaside favorites. The New England classic Clam Chowder, Lobster roll and new this year, the Lobster BLT are all favorites wrapped for your convenience and just as delicious as its inside competitors.

Where else on the island will you find a tasty cheeseburger like the Quarterdeck’s Deluxe for only $6.00!? The burger on its own is delicious, with the usual toppings of lettuce, tomato, and pickles complimenting the juicy Beef patty. But if you want to switch things up a bit, you can throw on some crispy Bacon, a savory fried egg, homemade chili, extra cheese, or sautéed onions for just a buck each. the yolk of the egg in particular works wonders as a unifying taste luxury.

Their burgers are good, but the Quarterdeck’s true specialty is the seafood, and this is evident in the tasty fried clams that load up the whole belly clam platter. At $24, the platter’s quantity and quality are well worth the price. A good dozen or so perfectly tender and juicy fried clams lay nestled atop a bed of crispy fries, served with tartar sauce and a fresh lemon slice just the way you like it.

The cooks at the Quarterdeck are a creative bunch and will often offer specials they come up with that will sometimes amaze but always impress you. Look for some interesting and delectable desert specials too. Deep fried Oreos are a local favorite when they come up, and they always do. The Quarter Deck is your last chance to grab a bite before jumping on the “on time” ferry to Chappaquiddick so don’t get caught with a growling tummy on the smaller, less populated sister island.
A nice bonus to the Quarterdeck is the hours that stretch late into the night, offering the nightlife crowd a place to grab a snack before heading home.

When the restaurant lines are long or you just want to create your own dining experience, swing by the Quarterdeck for a great meal that will make your stomach happy without making your wallet light.
