The Lampost has been a lot of things to Vineyarders and visitors over the years. A sports bar, a nightclub, a beer garden and a live music venue. Its still all of those things, but now in its second year offering a special menu of foot-long sandwiches, The “Post” has become yet another staple for its customers, a great place to get a tasty meal for an even better price.

The busy bar and nightclub located i the heart of Oak Bluffs have been offering a limited menu since April of 2017 but a new menu with more options may give you a reason to give it another look. The menu debuted with four different footlong subs: Italian, meatball, hot roast beef and turkey bacon ranch. Also featured were the traditional hot dogs and steaming soft pretzels. New this year, you can now get a Hot Pastrami with melted Swiss cheese on a Pretzel bun with a special Boom Boom Sauce. The Hot Dog options have expanded too. In addition to the Basic Dog, there is now The Pretzel Dog and The Vamp, which is a full meal on a bun – All Beef Hot Dog with Bacon, Onion, cheese, Ketchup & Mustard for just $7.95

But preparing a delicious snack isn’t enough. The Lampost’s menu, which is now available all day & night from 11 am to 1 am, has additional perks. It is inexpensive, and you can dine in or grab it to go. That means you can enjoy a $9.95 sub when looking for a quick lunch between shifts, or at night after a few drinks. And when you are in a rush, call ahead and order for quick pick-up. Its become a favorite lunch pick up for island workers.

“We figured that if we were going to do it, we decided to do it big,” explains co-owner Jamie Hayes about the choice to offer footlong sandwiches. “We wanted people to think that if they wanted a big sub, they would go to the Lampost. We’re just trying to get some good, quick food out there.”

All the subs can be ordered hot or cold and are accompanied by a side of chips.

In Hayes opinion, order the subs baked so that the bread gets crispy and the heavy heaping of cheese melts. Without question, the melted cheese mixed with a rich red sauce on top of the meatballs, as well as the sweet taste of pale provolone cheese that tops off the marinated roast beef sub, adds an extra something that guarantees you will finish every single bite. The crisp strips of bacon on top of the turkey bacon ranch, meanwhile, are mouth-watering. And the Italian sub, a costumer’s favorite, is described by Hayes as “the best on the island”.

The Lampost has long been a hot night spot on MV thanks to its sparkling libations, dynamic dancefloor and live music. Now, the Lampost is becoming a very popular dining spot during the day and at night….and late night!.
