Come along with a bee keeper from Ginny Bee Honey Farms and explore the life of bees. With a small group suit up in bee protective clothing and become a bee keeper for an hour. Tours are setup to teach about the world of bees and how valuable they are to our food. You’ll assist in finding the queen, measuring honey, identifying pollen, and monitoring bee life cycles. With such a hands-on tour you’ll come away with an experience that not many others can brag about. Tour concludes with a taste test of organic honey the Island bees have worked so hard to make. This documentary, which premiered at Sundance in January, chronicles the secret negotiations held in Oslo in 1992, when Israeli-Palestinian relations were at an all-time low. Interviews with survivors of those unsanctioned peace talks are woven together with dramatic re-enactments and excerpts from books and diaries written by the principals. The Oslo Diaries offers a resonant portrait of diplomacy and the delicate nature of peace. In some cases, we see individuals who although sitting in fundamental opposition to their counterparts, were able to find common ground and regard their counterparts as friends. Richard Cohen is President of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which uses litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy to work toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and opportunity will be a reality. A graduate of Columbia University and the University of Virginia School of Law, he came to the SPLC in 1986 as its legal director after practicing law in Washington, D.C., for seven years. Under his guidance, the SPLC won a series of landmark lawsuits against some of the nation’s most violent white supremacist organizations. He also successfully litigated a wide variety of important civil rights actions – defending the rights of prisoners to be treated humanely, and working for equal educational opportunities for all children.
