As of December 15, 2016, recreational marijuana is legal in Massachusetts following a ballot initiative that passed the month before that year.
Currently, 11 states and Washington, D.C. have now legalized marijuana for recreational use for adults over the age of 21. Meanwhile, 33 states have legalized medical marijuana. Last October, Canada became the first G7 country to legalize marijuana federally.
