Delicious Food on Oak Bluffs Harbor
If you’ve walked down the Oak Bluffs Harbor, you’ve probably met Petey. Local owner and friend to everyone, Petey is the guy that knows everyone and everything – plus, he knows how to make and keep customers happy year after year in Oak Bluffs with his restaurant, Coop de Ville. It’s one of those places on the island that the moment you walk in, you feel like you’re on vacation, even if you’re actually just on a lunch break from your job on Circuit.
Their menu offers fresh seafood, over 15 varieties of wings, the largest selection of beer on the island, and a full raw bar right next door at their Shuck Shack, plus the usual burgers, chicken fingers, and more. Recently, we visited Coop de Ville to try a few new to us dishes and boy did they deliver.
First off, the Baby Back Ribs served with fresh coleslaw and crispy fries. The ribs are marinated for two days and then cooked slowly to perfection, for the delicious fall of the bone ex-perience.
The next dish we tasted was the fried scallop roll. Now, there’s something extra special about fried, juicy scallops. Typically, you can get fried oysters or clam strips, but eating your-self to fried scallops is just the best. These are lightly coated and deep-fried to perfection, sitting atop a buttered roll and served with coleslaw and tartar sauce. If you’re looking for a true New England dish, this is the winner!
For the Wing lovers, you won’t be able to choose. The varieties include mild, medium, hot, suicide, three-mile island, barbecue, dragon fire, and sweet chili. The wet or dry versions are Cajun, Jamaican jerk, and Maryland Style (with Old Bay Seasoning). Pair any of these wings with one of the dozens of beers they carry and you’re set. Wanting to sip on a local brew? They serve:
Shuck Shack Extra Pale Ale

For those looking for a more New England style meal, the stuffed quahogs are one of the best I have tried, as well as their local steamers served with drawn butter. Head over there on a Tuesday for their famous Lobster Fest and enjoy a full steamed lobster and an ear of corn on the cob for just $16!
