Chicken Wraps, Beer, Clam Chowder and Pretzels are on tap
Bianca Moorman
The Lampost is a bar and nightclub located at the foot of Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs, and it has earned its place as a cornerstone of the lively, vibrant nightlife in town. Live music charges the air and bursts through the doors on a nightly basis, whipping up a happy atmosphere in the bobbing crowd. But the atmosphere won’t fill up your hungry belly, and that’s why the Lampost offers a wide selection of edible enticements to choose from. There are lots of classic drinks on tap, like Miller Lite and Coors Light, and many local brews, including several of New England’s favorite IPAs. If you are craving food, there are options ranging from chicken wraps, to meatball subs, to hot dogs with chips. If you crave something salty, a freshly baked soft pretzel served with honey and regular mustards hits the spot. If you are more of a classic New Englander, the New England Clam Chowder will make you feel like you are at mom and dad’s house again.
Walking into the Lampost, I thought that I was going to be swarmed by a crowd of people in the popular spot, but the atmosphere was easygoing and pleasant. In the background, rock music was playing through the speakers. Since I am not a drinker, I chose to get something to eat. I looked at the menu and there were plenty of items to choose from. The first thing that I ordered was a soft baked pretzel. Delivered in front of me was a large soft pretzel, baked to golden perfection, with salt sprinkled lightly over the top. A mix of chewy, fluffy bite and toasty-brown outer layer filled my mouth as I bit down hard. I chose to skip the mustard this time around.
The next thing that I tried was the Barbeque Chicken wrap. The wrap was composed of creamy ranch dressed chicken, lettuce, bacon, cheddar cheese and barbeque sauce in a hot white flour tortilla. The combination blends all the flavors together to create one delicious taste. After one bite of the sandwich, I could taste the creaminess of the ranch and barbecue sauce blending with the juicy chicken, plus the rich taste of cheese and refreshing crunch of lettuce. The taste was so good that I wanted to eat more, which I did. The wrap also came with some Cape Cod Kettle Cooked potato chips, but I saved the chips to munch on later.
The excellent atmosphere at the Lampost was composed of many factors, be it the food, or the service, or just the general vibe of the place. Whatever the reason you choose to show up, you’ll be sure to leave happy, satisfied, and with a night of memories you won’t soon forget.
