Scheduled to open this weekend, Isola is the Holy Trinity of Italian cuisine; the father, the son, and holy cannoli – the food is molto bene.

It’s Sunday dinner seven nights a week and the whole family is there. Moms and dads, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and that uncle who isn’t really your uncle crowd the kitchen. Isola gives a whole new meaning to family owned and operated.
A local bunch, the Sullo family is bringing more than just spaghetti and meatballs to Edgartown. The restaurant is divided into three sections: a storefront, a dining room and bar, and a pizzeria – all neatly tucked in behind the Majestic Court house and with the store front facing Church Street conveniently located next to the Edgartown Visitors Station.
The storefront offers freshly prepared foods to go such as salads, pizza slices, and coffee. One of the unique aspects of this section of Isola is the array of healthy alternative breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. With gluten free, vegan, and lighter fares, the storefront provides plenty of options for health conscious eaters or those with dietary restrictions.
Gabriella Sullo, daughter of owner Peter Sullo, is managing the storefront and is excited to share her love of cooking and nutrition with the Vineyard. “I grew up around really good food. My mom and dad are both amazing cooks. I really enjoyed cooking and took an interest in nutrition a few years ago, so combining my love for food and my love for nutrition was only natural,” she said.
Prefer to sit down and stay a while? The dining room at Isola features a full menu of favorite dishes with a local island flare. Pastas are all homemade and most ingredients used to prepare the dishes are gathered from local farms or fish markets. The full bar can be enjoyed with dinner and a bar menu is available after dinner service ends to accompany the live entertainment that is planned. Guests can also enjoy the music on warm summer evenings from the outdoor lounge.
And what Italian restaurant would be complete without a pizzeria? Build your own or choose from one of their signature pies like The Fun Guy, an aptly named mushroom pizza, or a traditional Margherita. Slices can be enjoyed either in the pizzeria or at home from the take out window.
With more layers than lasagna, Isola brings a depth to the Island’s rich restaurant scene and a family large enough they may just mistake you as one of their own.
