The FEARLESS Fashion Show Produced by Dressed MV Hits the Runway September 28th at the Vineyard Arts Project

Every year on Martha’s Vineyard Want to know who the most celebrated and up-and-coming designers on Martha’s Vineyard are? Curious about the latest styling techniques and trends in stores? The best way to get caught up on all things fashionable on the island is to attend a fashion show by MV Fashion Week.
Presented by Dressed MV magazine and Trena Morrison, editor and founder of Dressed MV, this year’s event takes place on Saturday, September 28 at the Vineyard Arts Project in Edgartown. Local designers, boutiques, and models will feature the latest in fashion from the Vineyard— the show’s most enduring and endearing quality.
In the past, there was always a handful of events leading up to the fashion shows. This year, there will be one fashion show for an incredible night of stylish looks coming down the runway. “I tried to put together two fashion shows as I’ve done in the past years, but ultimately, I decided to focus on doing one show and doing it really well.”
With the help of many friends and new acquaintances, Morrison is confident that this year’s event will be a great showing, while putting the spotlight on a few eco-friendly and sustainable brands run by women designers who are making a difference in the fashion industry. Each year, MV Fashion Week draws a crowd of discerning fashion and beauty shoppers, bloggers, and stylists and this year’s theme is FEARLESS (like Trena herself).
The FEARLESS fashion show is a Fashionable Event to get dressed up while bringing Awareness to a few eco-friendly and sustainable island clothing brands. An event run by men and women who love fashion and style, and who share a Love for the island’s style. It’s sure to be an Entertaining night with a Strong gathering of people of all race and gender who are here to Support one another and their businesses.
The doors will open at 6 p.m., where you can sample complimentary light bites catered by the Edgartown Diner, chocolate confections from Enchanted Chocolates, and sip on an assortment of beer, wine and champagne out on the deck while listening to music provided by DJ Pretty Ninja. Troy Neuenburg will be the evenings host and start the show at 7pm. After the show, head outdoors to enjoy a piece of cake or nibble on some delicious chocolates with a glass of champagne.
To be sure, MV Fashion Week is a massive undertaking. Yet there is not only the need to showcase island designers and boutiques, there is also a desire among the many who want to support the Vineyard’s fashion community and a local charity. A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to an island organization in need.
MV Fashion Week was held annually from 2011 to 2015. After some much needed time to focus on family and to regroup, Trena again felt the tug of excitement, glam, glitz, and camaraderie that comes with MV Fashion Week.
“It’s a funny thing when you do something like put on a yearly event and then stop,” Trena told This Week on MV. “You don’t realize the impact those events had on people. Bringing back MV Fashion Week after all these years was because time and again people would stop and ask me if I was going to do the “fashion shows” that particular year. My answer was always, “No, but then again maybe. You just never know.”
It’s good to know Trena never lost her ferocious entrepreneurial drive and pure love of the island she and her family call home…as well as a permanent love of all things fashion.
