On Monday evening, I had my first rehearsal for the production of Hair on Martha’s Vineyard. I will be performing the role of Walter and ensemble characters. I was not present at the initial information sessions for the production, so I had no idea what to expect prior to arriving at Spindrift Studios in Edgartown for the first rehearsal last night.
The staff of Spindrift Studios and production director Tessa Permar graciously welcomed me and introduced me to the cast and crew. The first rehearsal was a positive experience and I enjoyed getting acquainted with the theatre community on the island. I can already tell that this is going to be a very fun production to work on this summer!
During the rehearsal, we practiced three of the songs from the production, discussed the director’s interpretation of the storyline, and performed improvisational acting exercises. We will continue to rehearse for two more months and then perform the production on August 6-9 at the Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center. More updates about this production soon.
