New fish market offers locally fresh seafood daily

What happens when a local fisherman and restaurant businessman become friends? The Oaks Bluffs Fishmarket is created. Opening just this past May, Shaun Fitzpatrick and Sandy Fisher have worked together to provide the island with a variety of fresh fish daily.
How fresh is fresh? That’s the question I asked. Fitzpatrick’s answer: “It’s as fresh as it gets as far as I’m concerned.”
This fish is delivered daily; you can go home with a filet of tuna that was a full-bodied fish, swimming through the ocean just hours earlier. That’s not to make you feel bad either; it’s just the circle of life. Seventy-percent of the fish market’s case is of island variety, the extra 30% travelling no farther than from the shores of Boston. So, Massachusetts natives, rejoice; you can be Boston proud while soaking your lobster claws in hot melted butter.
Looking down the case, the vast variety of goods will satisfy any seafood connoisseur’s needs. There’s bluefish, snapper, haddock, bass, shellfish and Fitzpatrick’s favorite: tuna, just to name a few.
Being open just four months, the two fisher-businessmen still have many plans in motion for the future.
“We eventually want to become a one-stop shop for your dinner,” said Fitzpatrick.
And they’re well on their way to achieve this goal. The market has already expanded to include frozen appetizers. Just grab a box of crab cakes, throw them in the oven and they’re as good as can be.
If you’re struggling to choose which fish you want for tonight’s dinner, take a minute to peruse the racks of rice and pasta lining the wall of the store that can accompany your meal, and grab some cocktail sauce or salsa while you’re at it.
Steamed lobster will also soon be available for purchase, so the only effort you need to put in is the short walk down Circuit Ave; and keep on the lookout for sunset specials. These specials will be provided under the intent for you to hop off your boat, go grab some fresh steamed lobster and corn and hop back on in time for the evening cruise.
If you love fish, but don’t know how to cook it, then head to some of the seafood restaurants around, and they’ll cook Oaks Bluffs Fishmarket’s fish for you. The market has recently established accounts with Jimmy Seas, Biscuits, MV Chowder Company and other locations, so when you eat there, you’re eating fresh and local.
Conveniently located just off the harbor, a short walk to Oaks Bluffs Fishmarket will be sure to provide you with a fresh and complete meal that will have you eating like a king crab.
