The Stuffed Quahogs at Coop de Ville are unlike any other stuffed quahog on island. What’s a quahog, you might ask? Well – let’s just get it straight right away – little necks, cherry stones, top necks, and quahogs are all different sizes of the same type of clam, as a group known as quahogs. You can say that all quahogs are clams, but not all clams are quahogs.
Known as “stuffies”, this quahog preparation at Coop’s is a blend of chopped quahogs, linguisca, chourico, and some house secret spices that in turn create a blend that has a hint of spice, perfect when squeezed with fresh lemon. Typically, stuffies are known to be dry and unappealing, as restaurants tend to skimp on the quahog and sausages and stuff the shells up with fillers such as bread. Not at Coop de Ville – this stuffie is one for the books, which makes the Stuffed Quahogs at Coop’s in OB an incredible choice “off the menu”.
