Eating on Martha’s vineyard has never been more exciting or global as chefs turn flavors from around the world into island classics. For exceptional Asian cuisine that is thoughtfully presented, you cannot go wrong with anything at Vineyard Haven’s Mikado Asian Bistro– but try the Poke Bowl.
Poke bowls have exploded onto the restaurant scene thanks to healthy ingredients and customization– have it your way. Stemming from Hawaiian culinary traditions, poke means to cut something. As for a poke bowl, the main ingredients are marinated seafood or meats, mixed with chunks of vegetables and served on a base of rice or greens. Drizzled on top is usually a savory umami or soybean paste-based source.
At Mikado, chose sushi rice or lettuce for the base and pick a trio of proteins. Options include tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, scallop, chicken, beef, or tofu.
This is an Instagram-worthy dish in an Insta-worthy atmosphere that tastes even better than it looks.
