You want it? You got it over at Edgartown Pizza

Walk into any town pizza shop, and there’s almost a 100% guarantee that you’ll
be greeted by halfway decent pizza, lots of grease, and a hot and humid environment.
You know what you’re going to get but still regret it later on that night, when you lie
bloated in bed. Luckily, there’s a place that can change this vicious cycle, and that place
is Edgartown Pizza.
Founded on a drive to be unlike the others, owner Danny Segal prides himself on
the variety of food available at reasonable prices. Walk in to the restaurant at the tip of
the Edgartown triangle, and you’ll be surrounded by countless menu options: daily
specials, specialty pizzas, bargains, favorites and more. Everything can be made to order
with gluten free options upon request. All you have to do is ask, and it will be done.
Wednesday night’s delicacy was the eggplant parmesan sub. Lightly breaded, two
thick slices of eggplant lay between layers of mozzarella cheese melted so perfectly that
fingers were actually needed to separate the strings that stretched across the plate.
Topped with a slathering of marinara sauce, the seasonings blended in perfect harmony.
All of this came between the freshest bun imaginable. So soft, teeth didn’t even
have to be bothered to chomp their way through yet still toasted just enough to keep all
of the ingredients at a comfortably warm temperature. While filling, this sub does not
leave one in a state of greased out food coma but delivers a healthy satisfaction.
The buffalo chicken pizza earned mom’s approval, which should really be an
award considering the amount of spicy pizzas she’s tried in her day. Starting from the
bottom, the crust can be classified as “thin but supportive.” While the dough does not
overwhelm the pizza, it makes a stable presence. Then came a thin layer of marinara
sauce. It can get dangerous when two sauces collide, but Edgartown Pizza (EP) has
found a way to make everything pleasantly coexist.
So where is the buffalo sauce, then? It comes lathered on the chunks of chicken
tenders that top this circular wonder. Again, EP has found a way for the spice to be
present for those buffalo lovers while not making them guzzle down gallons of water as
they go.
Pizza and subs aren’t all that’s available over at EP, however. With wraps,
sandwiches, burgers, salads, pasta, steak tips and chicken all on the menu, anyone’s
taste buds will be pleased.
And if you want to eat at home but without cooking, EP can still be your dinner.
Just call ahead and swing by to pick up all of your favorites without a wait and at the
same great price.
Segal keeps his prices low so that everyone can enjoy his food, stating that a
family of four can come in and all order food and drinks for a grand total of only $50.00,
a bargain that’s difficult to beat on this island. With a slice of cheese pizza ringing in at
$2.25, there’s no guilt attached to the culinary pleasure. Nearly all the wraps and subs
are $7.95, and every item on the children’s menu is a mere $4.95. While sitting in the
restaurant, this writer can confirm that Segal’s plan to please has worked. A family with
young children popped in for a bit, two middle-aged men came by for pick-up, while a
group of 70-year- old “regulars” sat in their booth.
Accompanied by a friendly staff and spacious, comfortable seating, Edgartown
Pizza delivers it all.
