There’s nothing like flying into Martha’s Vineyard for the first time, hopping off the plane, and realizing you’re starving. Since the snack foods on the flight did not satisfy your craving, your high hopes of the airport having decent menu options to quiet your stomach rumblings are becoming less and less hopeful.
Since airports typically have mundane options that become increasingly unsatisfying every time you fly, you’re grateful to see the light at the end of the tunnel (well, light at the end of the ramp) in the middle of Martha’s Vineyard Airport in West Tisbury.
Practically sitting on the runway, Plane View Restaurant resides directly in the airport with a spectacular view of dozens of planes taking off and landing right before your eyes. Serving not only jet setters, it is open to the public 7 days a week.
The outskirts of the small, restaurant are lined with thirty-foot windows floor to ceiling, making it difficult to focus on the meal in front of you. However, with menu options such as the thick-cut French toast, or the Western omelet with ham, onions, peppers, bacon, toast and home fries, restaurant guests seem satisfied with the wholesome breakfast food awaiting their stomachs.
For only $7.29, two eggs any style with your meat of choice, home fries, toast, and coffee, can be yours which includes the breathtaking bonus view.
Although Plane View is out of the way from the hustle and bustle of downtown, the restaurant is continuously busy for breakfast. Plane View routinely serves hundreds of customers on Sunday mornings who are looking for an excuse to dodge the summer crushes in the relative luxury of the center of the island.
Continuing into lunch service, the restaurant serves up deli sandwich classics, burgers, hotdogs, and “pre-flight” finger foods such as nachos and potato skins.
Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast meal, a quick on the go lunch, or a bite to eat before and after a flight, Plane View has a delicious selection and amazing view at an affordable price.
