Store sales, although seen less frequent during the summer, always have a beginning and an ending. It also seems that most of these sales are pitted on clothing items; you have to keep track of them as if you’re bidding for an item on e-bay, hoping to get something at a Great price. The problem with store sales is; if you don’t catch the right sale at the right time – bottom line: you’re bumming.

Discount stores are a whole different kind of ballgame. Here, clothing and items are always on sale and almost always deeply discounted, designed to give consumers the best prices around. Want to know the best part- the sale is ongoing! It never ends! So not only can you find a great item at an even better price tag, you almost always come across something, even if you weren’t looking for it in the first place. There is only one true discount store on the Vineyard like this and its name is Trader Fred’s.

Trader Fred’s discount store is located at the Triangle, just outside of Edgartown. Upon arrival, you’ll see the porch well supplied with brightly colored Crocs, lots of fun outdoor toys for the kids, boogie boards and beach items. Take a step inside to find tightly packed racks of brand name clothing just waiting to be searched and tried on. Men’s Hawaiian short sleeve shirts, polos, suit jackets, shorts, swim shorts and pants as well as sweatshirts and jackets-if Trader Fred’s doesn’t have it, try making one more circle around the store!

It’s summertime on the Vineyard! If you’re always losing your sunglasses(an important necessity) and need a quick fix, there are many styles and shapes from aviators to neon colored to suit every taste. Big beach towels, brightly colored swim shorts and open knit sweaters that fit over the cutest little white dresses for those chilly nights.

Women’s and kids clothing are to your left. Find rash guards for the tots, brightly colored bathing suits, casual summer dresses that are great for a night out, trendy, brand name jeans and trousers, tops and jackets. There’s just too much to list! All of the clothing Trader Fred’s carries are famous brand names that we are familiar with and we all know.

Need some golf balls or even a whole set of clubs, bag included-you can purchase them here. There is a nook filled with fishing gear, household and kitchen items, camping gear, watches, knives, fun stuff for entertaining the kids and cameras to capture the moment.

There’s a even a humidor! Rest assured all of you cigar connoisseurs that an Arturo Fuente cigar is at the desired level of humidity and well protected, perfect for that special occasion.

And to top it off, there are shelves upon shelves of famous name brand sneakers and sandals, boat shoes, slippers and work boots. Give or take a few more styles, you’ll just have to come in and find out for yourself. The store doesn’t carry the slogan, “Everything under the Sun-just about” for nothing!
